PRELOVED FENDER 1964 Bandmaster Head - PRE CBS
Fender Bandmaster Head – Blonde/Blackface Era (1963–1964)
A genuine early ‘60s Fender Bandmaster head from the blonde-to-blackface transition period. This is a well-maintained, fully functional vintage amp that delivers the classic Fender clean tone — clear, punchy, and dynamic.
This example has had its transformers replaced in period (1970), with Schumacher-made Fender-spec components including the power transformer, output transformer, and choke. This was a common service upgrade and makes this a strong, reliable player-grade vintage amp.
Key Features
- Circuit: AA763 blackface-style with opto tremolo
- Power: Approx. 40 watts via 2x 6L6 power tubes
- Channels: Normal and Vibrato, both with bright switches
- Transformers: Fender-spec Schumacher replacements (1970)
- Voltage: Converted to 240V for Australian use
- Cosmetics: Blonde tolex with blackface panel and raised logo, showing age-appropriate wear
- Condition: Fully tested and working
- Footswitch: Not included
What This Amp Is
This is not a collector-grade, all-original example — but that’s not the point.
This is a proper vintage Fender you can actually use:
- Serviced with period-correct parts
- Stable on Australian power
- Delivers the real Bandmaster sound without the fragility of untouched originals
Expect:
- Sparkling cleans
- Tight low end
- Excellent pedal platform
- Classic Fender tremolo
Why It Matters
Early Bandmasters sit in a sweet spot — more headroom than smaller combos, but still responsive and musical. This one has the added character of the blonde/blackface crossover look, making it stand out visually as well as sonically.
